Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) are used to preserve fats and oils in foods such as crackers and cereals. These petroleum-derived antioxidants are linked to cancerous tumor growth. Studies have also proven BHA causes cancer in the forestomachs of rodents. So the possibility BHA is also a human carcinogen remains high.
