A viral video exposed an altercation between Officer Jake Perry and a student at Camden Fairview High School. The video shows Perry holding the student in a chokehold position. The Camden Police Chief Boyd Woody released a statement, “As the Police Chief, I will not tolerate misconduct from officers and this matter will be dealt with accordingly and I will be transparent in doing so.” He announced that Perry had been relieved of his duty pending an investigation.
This substitute teacher from Missouri was charged with carrying out a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student while she was 24. Loryn Barclay admitted to authorities that she had multiple sexual encounters with the student, including two at his home and one in a public park. She currently faces five years of supervised probation and a spot in the sexual offender registry for her crime.
Catherine Coffey of Madison Country, Alabama was arrested in February 2020 after a high school student confirmed that the two were in a sexual relationship. The elementary school resource teacher and assistant high school softball coach allegedly carried out an affair with the student between August and December of 2019. She currently faces felony charges of being a school employee engaging in a sexual act with a student and engaging in sexual contact with a student. She could end up with jail time of up to 30 years, and will be a registered sex offender for life, if convicted, reports PEOPLE.com.
