Kids say and do hilarious (and sometimes the grossest and/or embarrassing) things. As a result, all parents have crazy stories about their kids—including celebrities. Below are a collection of funny celebrity parenting stories that made us laugh — and, boy, can most parents relate.
1. Dwayne Johnson
A story from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson occurred while teaching his two-year-old daughter Jasmine how to swim. Accompanying the adorable pic below was a recap of the day: “Great to recharge the batteries this weekend, back home with all my girls and teaching this

2. Kelly Clarkson
Singer Kelly Clarkson learned her daughter, River, was paying more attention to what was going on in her surroundings than Clarkson thought when River told her mom to “piss off” one night while getting ready for bed.
Kelly told People magazine: “I was like, ‘I’m sorry, what? First of all, we don’t hang out with British people… where did you learn that? River’s response? ‘Harry Potter.’ Kelly replied, “OK, well that’s Mommy’s fault.”
3. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
Just in time for Christmas is this Tweet from Neil Patrick Harris. Because… why get Christmas gifts when kids love everything else so much?
4. Molly Sims
Molly Sims’ daughter, Scarlett May, likes being naked. But Sims is just getting a taste of her own medicine. Apparently, when Molly was a toddler, she also wasn’t a fan of wearing clothes. Scarlett isn’t shy either; she answered the door buck naked. Can you say karma?

5. Alyssa Milano
Kids don’t have the same everyday stressors with which adults grapple. As a result, they can often ground us with their wisdom. In the case of Alyssa Milano’s son, it’s a simple truth that isn’t full of hot air.
6. Alyson Hannigan
In another moment of truth, actor Alyson Hannigan (star of How I Met Your Mother, the American Pie movies, and the Buffy the Vampire TV series, sent out this Tweet about an interaction with her kids.
7. Melissa McCarthy
Sleep? What sleep? All those days you spent in bed are gone — and so are most nights — once a child comes into your life. Take comedian Melissa McCarthy as an example. The Ellen Degeneres Show likes to feature funny celebrity parenting stories (as you’ll see below) and this one exemplifies trying to get some sleep when a child is around.
Melissa said, “She sleeps at night until she gets up and doesn’t sleep. She would always come on my side [of the bed] and she just knocks on my forehead like a front door. She’s like ‘What are you doing?’ I’m like, ‘It’s 2:15 I’m trying to sleep.’ Or she’ll come in with a book and it’s like 3:20. And she’s just reading, she’s like ‘You wanna read this book?!’”

8. Anna Faris
Former spouses Anna Faris and Chris Pratt were known to be jokers and had no problem making fun of themselves. When their son Jack made his first appearance on Anna’s Twitter feed, it was via this infamous moment. Jack stood in a puddle… that he, himself, had made.
Anna’s tweet? “Potty training is going great! I’m a natural!”
9. Joel McHale
Comedian and actor Joel McHale recently shared a story on his social media about his son changing the words to a song from the LEGO Movie. He tweeted: “My kid changed the LEGO Movie song from ‘Everything is awesome when you’re part of a team’ to ‘Everything is awesome when you’re not dying.” Such a little comedian!
Parental life certainly changes a person. Take Carrie Underwood, for example…
10. Carrie Underwood
This is less about a funny thing a kid did, and more about an observation all parents eventually make. See what the famous singer states on this tweet from 2016.
Yep, we feel ya, sister.
11. Drew Barrymore
Disappointing your kids. It’s gonna happen. And when it does, you kind of hate it — for many different reasons. Here’s what Drew Barrymore said on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
“She wanted to chase a duck. Maybe a Disney employee, maybe not. Maybe wild. But Olive was determined to catch it, and in hindsight, as a parent, you have these revelations like, I should’ve let her catch it because she either would have and been satisfied, or she wouldn’t have been and been mad at the duck and not her mom, who tried to stop her from chasing the bird.”
12. Dax Shepard & Kristen Bell
It’s all nice and sweet when kids are sharing… until someone gets hurt. That’s what Dax Shepard and wife Kristen Bell realized when their daughter Lincoln decided to play with their new baby daughter, Delta.
“We’re all eating dinner and my mother says, ‘Guys! Guys! Guys!’ We look over — Lincoln has some rocks that she loves and carries around — and she’s throwing them in the baby bassinet to share. They’re big rocks!”
“There were no injuries, but that got our attention. Sharing is not caring, always. They say it is, but sometimes it’s almost murder,” Dax said on The Ellen Degeneres Show.
Now, for another hot couple…
