24. Garcelle Beauvais
Disciplining your child can be tough. You don’t always want to be the mean cop, but that’s often the best option when helping a child understand good and bad behaviors. This is especially true when the kid unknowingly throws guilt back at you.
Garcelle Beauvais, pictured here with her teenage sons Jax and Jaid, has a great story from back in the day.
“One time Jaid was just all over the place. He wouldn’t listen, we’re trying to eat, [his brother] Jax is cracking him up. So I was really firm with him and I said, ‘You have to stop. We’re eating.’ And he looked at me and he goes, ‘Mom?’ and I go, ‘Yeah?’ He goes, ‘Was your mom mean to you, too?’”

Kids can say things that throw you off. But if you’re a comic like Conan, it helps if you can roll with the punches.
