It’s a tale as old as time. Kids are told not to dip their hand into the cookie jar without parental permission, only to sneak away and do exactly that moments later. Back in the day, there would be hell to pay if a parent found out. Well, now today’s toddlers are getting that same test, and parents are going viral as they share their kids’ endeavors on TikTok. Through the TikTok “candy challenge,” a kid’s patience is put to the test for everyone to see.
Also known as the “Fruit Snack Challenge” and the “Patient Challenge,” the candy challenge has parents placing sweet treats in front of their young children and leaving them alone in the room. They tell them not to snack on the treats until their parents return to the room and give them permission. Of course, this all happens while the parents secretly record their kids.
The results are shocking, endearing, and hilarious.
Kylie Jenner & Stormi: A Success Story
Kylie Jenner put her 2-year-old daughter Stormi Webster to the test when she set a candy bowl while the toddler was watching TV.
“You can only have three of them. I’m going to give you three of them,” Kylie tells Stormi, right before her daughter lunges for the M&M’s. “But wait! You have to wait until Mommy comes back. I’m going to go to the bathroom.”
In the video, Stormi dives for the bowl only to stop herself and focus on the TV instead. She adorably talks to herself, repeating “Patience.” She succeeds in the challenge as Kylie comes back to let her have some of the sweet treats.
Gabrielle Union & Kaavia: An Adorable Fail
Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade’s 18-month-old daughter, Kaavia, was put to the test and just like many others, failed. Union leaves Kaavia and some Bitsy’s Brain Food alone in a room.
Kaavia immediately runs to the tray to munch on her snack after Union walks away. Once Union returns and tells her to go ahead and eat, Kaavia runs off screen.
Not Everyone’s a Listener
One baby eagerly waved and shouted “Bye!” to her mom as she plopped a fruit snack in her mouth:
Another toddler snacked on the entire bowl after her mom left the room, completing the challenge by showing off an empty bowl as her mom returns:
