Love Halloween? Do the fun, chills and thrills that comes from this celebration send a shiver down your spine? Well, get ready — because just as we learned from looking at vintage Halloween costumes, these vintage Halloween greeting cards will make you wonder what old-time revelers had in their minds.
Most of these cards hail from the first decade of the 1900s. While some are cute, the majority have a certain antiquated and twisted quality that lends a creepy feel to them. Still, it’s kind of cool to realize that these old school gems offer a glimpse into the way our great-great-great grandparents celebrated the holiday.

A Sweet Treat
Many Halloween celebratory images harken to the fun, wholesome feel for Halloween. In these vintage Halloween greeting cards there are some creepy items, but for the most part they are family-friendly and young children wouldn’t be disturbed.
Okay, then again, zombie pumpkins are kind of creepy… (Don’t worry, we will get to the darker side soon enough.)

But there were religious folks who weren’t into the holiday. So how was peace found?
By showing evil and then smiting it, of course. Or making it seem that way..
The devil is real… and in this case they’re after pumpkins.
These next two show the transformation of the pumpkin, where a Jack-o-Lantern is more directly connected to demons and Satan. Indeed, it’s implied that this little beast helps light the hell fires on earth.
And those Jack-o-Lanterns light the way for the pearhead man, a devil, a witch and a black cat.
