World War II Never Made It to U.S. Mainland
A lot of Americans assume World War II never reached the United States mainland. With the exception of Pearl Harbor, many are unaware of the attacks on US soil. On June 24, 1942, a Japanese submarine attacked Fort Stevens in Oregon. Later that year in September, the same submarine dropped bombs near Brookings, Oregon in an effort to start a forest fire. Both attacks failed to cause major, which is probably why it is glossed over in history.
