2. Encourage Gratitude
Instead of things that went wrong, try to remember what you are thankful for at the end of the day instead. You can take part in the exercise as a family by going around at dinner time telling everyone else what went well on that day or encourage older children to hold a gratitude journal instead if they are inclined.
If you don’t know exactly how to raise an optimist, use gratitude as a secret tool. Gratitude and optimism are closely associated, and studies show that grateful people are happier, receive more social support, are less stressed, and are less depressed.
