But there’s no denying one of the biggest reasons we keep going back: the food. Their super-affordable hot dogs, frozen yogurt, and cinnamon buns are just the ticket after a long day of furniture shopping, but everyone knows that the Swedish meatballs are the real star of the show.
Now, with everyone stuck at home and unable to make the trip to their nearest Ikea, the Swedish furniture makers have done their fans a huge favor by releasing the recipe for their famous meatballs.

“We know that some people might be missing our meatballs, which is why we’ve released an at-home alternative which, using easily accessible ingredients, will help those looking for some inspiration in the kitchen,” said Ikea country food manager Lorena Lourido, per Motherly.
So how can you make these famously delectable meatballs at home? Here’s what you’ll need.
Meatball Ingredients
- Ground beef, 1.1 lb
- Ground pork, 1/2 lb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, minced or crushed
- Breadcrumbs, 3.5 oz
- 1 Egg
- Whole milk, 5 tbsp
- Salt and pepper

Of course, the classic meatball dish wouldn’t be complete with the mouth-watering cream sauce on top!
Cream Sauce Ingredients
- A dash of oil
- Butter, 1.4 oz
- Plain flour, 1.4 oz
- Vegetable stock, 5 oz
- Beef stock, 5 oz
- Soy sauce, 2 tsp
- Dijon mustard, 1 tsp
