Excitement is already building around LEGOLAND New York Resort’s July 4 opening date. There are myriad attractions waiting to dazzle visitors at the Goshen, New York-based park, located just 60 minutes outside of New York City. Among the attractions is the LEGO Factory Adventure with never-before-seen technology that takes riders through a shrinking process until they’re the size of a LEGO.
Matt Besterman, the LEGOLAND New York Resort public relations manager, spoke to Parentology about the LEGO Factory Adventure, what families can look forward to when the park opens and how to make the most out of a visit. An assurance he makes, “We carefully select our rides to make sure there’s plenty to do for kids age 2-12, and parents too.”
Indeed, over 50 rides, shows and attractions will be unveiled in July. Some to catch: LEGO Ninjago World, Knight’s Kingdom, Driving School (yes, licenses are distributed) and the titillating Dragon Coaster.
LEGO Factory Adventure is Open to All
A “narrative-led experience,” LEGO Factory Adventure takes riders through a transformation from human into LEGO Minifigure with matching clothes, accessories and hairstyles. The motion tracking system even sees Minifigures mimicking guest movements. LEGOLAND New York Resort will be the first LEGOLAND Park to feature the LEGO Factory Adventure ride and its cutting-edge technology.
There’s more than one “first” that comes via LEGO Factory Adventure. “This is the first time in any LEGOLAND park that there will be a ride with an ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] vehicle capable of carrying a wheelchair,” Besterman says. “There will be a special track reserved for the ADA vehicle, which will just swap in with one of the regular vehicles when a wheelchair is loaded. This keeps things running smoothly and gives all guests the best possible experience.”
Excited to get in line for the ride? First, Besterman says to check age and height restrictions LEGOLAND New York Resort’s website prior to a visit. Here are some other tips Besterman shares for making the most out of a visit.
