So go the lyrics of Metallica’s Enter Sandman, a gentle ballad that has lulled children to sleep for decades. And now kids have even more reason to love the
They’ve written a children’s book. That’s right. Move over, Goodnight Moon, cuz story time is about to ROCK HARD.
The ABCs of Metallica, an alphabetical exploration of the band’s history, will hit book shelves and online stores on November 26, 2019. Each letter of the alphabet will highlight special moments from the band’s 38-year journey, covering all of their albums, and including fun facts about James, Lars, Kirk and Robert.
“We have a new book coming out and this time it rhymes!” the band gleefully announced on their website.
Co-written by Howie Abrams, who also wrote Hip-Hop Alphabet, and illustrated by Michael “Kayes” McLeer, The ABCs of Metallica is sure to join classics like The Giving Tree and The Very Hungry Caterpillar as the new bedtime story of choice for discerning children around the world.
“I can’t wait to snuggle under my blanket while Mommy reads to me about the time when Metallica kicked out Dave Mustaine because he was a violent drunk,” said 4-year-old Benji, who may or may not be a real child.
Benji’s probably fake six-year-old sister Eugenia concurred. “It’s not like the other guys didn’t drink, but they were cool about it, you know?” she said thoughtfully. “Dave was a time bomb.”
You can pre-order The ABCs of Metallica in the band’s online store, where you can bundle it with a “Young and Metal” kids’ t-shirt. It’s also available via Amazon.
