While everyone may want a little Emma or Olivia, the same can’t be said for Renee and Ann. They are among the top 20 least popular names out of 1,000 names according to the Social Security Administration. Strangely, so is Zendaya; evidently star power doesn’t make a name popular.

Trends in the least popular names seem to change frequently. The names on the bottom portion of the list have been different from year to year.
Least Popular Boy Names

Let’s start by discussing the elephant in the room. Although it wasn’t on the bottom of the list, there has been a noteworthy decline in the popularity of the name Donald. Between 2018 and 2019, the name fell 27 places from 526 to 553. That’s the lowest spot it’s been since the list began in the 1880s.
The names of presidents often decline while they’re in office. The name Ronald saw a drop while Reagan was president as did the name Richard during the Nixon era.
