Apple is releasing more than 100 new games on September 19th with the launch of its new unlimited subscription service: Apple Arcade. You can share your subscription with up to five family members, and with so many options, everyone’s sure to find a game they love.
Apple Arcade is playable on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. After a free one-month trial, a subscription is $4.99 per month for unlimited play on over 100 games, on any device, shared with your entire family. Games are ad-free, available for offline download, and are made to work with Screen Time and parental controls so you can keep an eye on your kid’s gaming.
According to their launch site, Apple partnered with “some of the world’s most visionary developers” to push the boundaries of gaming — think adventure, puzzle, nostalgia, fantasy and more with super-mod graphics to go with them. And these games are for all ages and interests. Whether you want to “escape the Bermuda Triangle, manipulate shadows, rescue a prince, or survive high school,” there’s something for you.
The games are made by a variety of studios and developers. There are Pac-Man and Sonic spinoffs from big-budget studios, and new augmented-reality features even in the most simple puzzle games. For the adventure gamers, long-form fantasy worlds are joining the Arcade too, like popular survival game Overland. There’s even playable music videos, detective dramas, games geared for meditation and, of course, multiplayer games.
The options are endless, especially with different Apple devices, and you can use an Apple TV as a scoreboard if you’re in multiplayer mode. And they’re not done expanding yet. The Arcade launch site even has a “Dream it, Build it” section where you can contact Apple with your own groundbreaking game idea.
