A photo of a newborn baby girl — and specifically the angry expression on her face — has caused the internet to explode with a new viral sensation. And it’s not the first time, either.
Isabela Pereira de Jesus was born via a cesarian section in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on February 13. Photographer Rodrigo Kunstmann captured the moment for Isabela’s parents, and he posted the photo on his Facebook page on February 15. His caption, as if speaking from the baby’s POV: “Today is my birth and I don’t even have clothes for this event.”
While it took a couple of days, the photo soon got traction all over social media. The original post now has more than 3,300 shares, more than 2,000 comments, and nearly 8,000 reactions.
These numbers have jumped since People posted the photo back in February. When Parentology reported on the viral trend at that time, the posting had 3,500 reactions, 1,000 comments and 1,600 shares. It’s not quite clear why, but the image has made the rounds again recently, causing a second burst of interest in baby Isabela.
According to reports, she didn’t initially cry when she was born. Instead, she gave doctors her angry look, and only cried after they cut her umbilical chord.
Needless to say, the parents are thrilled by their little internet sensation. For his part, Kunstmann says he feels blessed to have had this moment. “…I never imagined that a single photo could change my life and career,” he told The Evening Standard, “I have been a photographer for 11 years, I hope I can inspire others to never give up on their dreams, God’s plans will always be fulfilled.”
