Broadway star Nick Cordero is in recovery after having his right leg amputated following coronavirus complications, according to his wife Amanda Kloots. The news is the latest from Kloots’ constant updates to fans via Instagram after Cordero first began his fight against coronavirus over two weeks ago.
This past Saturday was day 18 of Cordero being sedated in the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he lives with his family while performing in Rock of Ages. It was also the day where he began to have clotting issues on his right leg. The blood thinners he was given then affected his blood pressure and caused internal bleeding in his intestines.
Kloots started the hashtag “#wakeupnick” on Instagram and asked fans to send videos of them dancing and asking Cordero to wake up. Later in the day, she shared that his surgery had finished successfully.
“He made it through the surgery, which is really big because obviously his body is pretty weak,” Kloots said. “Hopefully he’ll just kind of relax and rest.”
The next day, Kloots provided another update on Cordero’s condition post-surgery, writing “It seems like Nick’s body is responding well to his surgery and recovering well. I asked for a miracle yesterday because my spirits were low and I think we got one today. He is alive and recovering well.”
Today, Kloots updated fans through her Instagram Stories, saying “little by little” things are getting better for Cordero.
