Nike is launching its first line of maternity activewear, Nike (M), this month.
The line will be available online beginning September 17, with products priced between $45 and $85. Nike (M)’s launch will feature four products that Nike says are designed to “support women during all stages of pregnancy and beyond.”
Nike (M) was created based on pregnancy data findings with analytics from more than 150,000 comparison scans of non-pregnant women against those of pregnant women. The brand also used feedback on the products’ fit, feel, and function from nearly 30 female athletes who were either pregnant or postpartum.
According to CNN Business, research and development for Nike (M) began three years ago.
“It’s the project of a lifetime to work in lockstep with all kinds of mothers to bring to life a capsule that truly supports women’s relationship with sport during such a transformative time in their lives,” Carmen Zolman, Nike Senior Design Director for Apparel Innovation, said in a press release.
A Look at Nike (M)

The Nike (M) Collection is four-piece essentials capsule, consisting of the Nike (M) Pullover, Nike (M) Swoosh Bra, the Nike (M) Tank, and Nike One (M) Tight.
CNN Business provided more details on the upcoming line. The bra and tank can be adjusted for breastfeeding/pumping and the tight can be folded down or completely pulled up over a belly further along the pregnancy. The pullover has a split opening in the front that can accommodate a growing belly or double as a nursing cover.
Perri Edwards, mother and retired British track and field athlete, described the line in a press release.
“The Nike (M) sports bra is great because it’ll give me easy access for when I want to breastfeed,” says Edwards. “The leggings give you options of wearing over your tummy or showing your tummy, and the maternity shirt has this extra material for the extra weight that I’m carrying. You look very smart, very comfortable, very hip.”
The line will be available in North America, Europe, and Africa on September 17.
