An Arby’s restaurant in Minnesota has been under fire for posting an “insensitive” sign on their front door this week. The offending Arby’s sign was removed after the public outcry.
The sign read, “Only well-behaved children who can keep their food on their trays and their bottoms on their seats are welcome. If you can’t do this you will be asked to leave. Thanks.”
Local customer Christine Hemsworth spoke about the sign to KARE-TV, stating that she had never seen a sign like that at the Arby’s location.

“I was shocked to find a sign like that,” Hemsworth said. “It is a fast-food restaurant, it’s not something with white tablecloths. It’s supposed to be family-oriented as far as I knew.”
During her meal, she was never asked to leave, but was stressed about how her young child would be viewed by the staff. “I have a toddler. I wasn’t sure if it was because they didn’t want to clean up messes. I always clean up my children’s mess anyways but it was an uncomfortable and stressful meal,” she stated.
As the offensive Arby’s sign made its rounds on different social media platforms, countless parents commented on how Arby’s was in the wrong. One parent tweeted the company, writing, “I am appalled by this. My son is autistic and would be kicked out for his behaviors.”
Arby’s responded to differents users on social media, stating that the sign has been taken down.
“Thank you for your concern and bringing this to our attention,” The company’s customer support Twitter account wrote to a customer. “We’ve spoken to the restaurant team and have removed this sign as this does not reflect our company values and the family-friendly environment we aim to provide in our restaurants.
