Not a breaker? Here’s a quick primer from Red Bull about breakdancing’s history: “Introduced to the world in the 1970s, the art of breaking was originally inspired by the diverse and growing hip-hop culture and sounds of New York City. Connecting individuals spanning diverse backgrounds through the universal language of hip-hop, breaking has since established itself as not only a form of dance, but as a way of life within its own community, which spans the globe. The breaking movement, spearheaded by longtime Red Bull athlete, Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colon, has emerged as a mainstream means of self-expression and connects people from cultures worldwide.”
Hear the stories of breakdancing legends and there’s a recurring theme — attending a breakdance battle changed their life. Immersing in the dance, they’ve embraced newfound confidence, broken barriers and vowed to carry on the tradition for generations to come. Bring your family and share your breakdancing moves with this strong and dynamic community.
