Friends Lucky, Pru and Abigail are back and preparing to leave Miradero on their next, exciting adventure as they move away to boarding school at Palamino Bluffs Riding Academy. In Dreamworks’ Spirit Riding Free: Riding Academy Part One, the team is ready to take on new challenges, from dealing with competition to facing the responsibility of being away from home for the first time. Parentology has an exclusive clip to give fans a peek at what’s ahead in the new series, which kicks off April 3 on Netflix.
For those unfamiliar with the series, here’s a refresher. Spirit Riding Free is an animated series based on the hit animated movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Set in the small frontier town of Miradero, 12-year-old Fortuna “Lucky” Esperanza Navarro Prescott encounters a wild mustang named Spirit shortly after relocating from the city. Wranglers catch the horse and take it into town to be tamed and Lucky frees him when she bonds with Spirit. Lucky becomes friends with Pru Granger and Abigail Stone, forming a group they refer to as PALs as they embark on adventures across the land with their horses.

In Spirit Riding Free: Riding Academy Part One, they go to a boarding school together. Once there, they meet new competition, the BUDs, and struggle to fit in with their fellow Foals (first-term students). As they settle into their new home, they learn to make new friends and discover their individual talents.
