Spotify’s Family Plan’s latest updates will make music streaming for the family easier than ever. The streaming platform is rolling out a new explicit content filter, family-friendly playlists, and the Family Hub.
With Spotify Premium Family Plans, users will have access to 50 million tracks and 450,000 podcasts for ad-free music streaming. The plan allows users to create six individual accounts.
The Family Mix feature introduces a personalized playlist of songs that the entire household is able to enjoy. It’s based on activity from all individual accounts — genres, artists, and songs — to get a good grasp on what everyone would like. Family Mix updates regularly to make sure you aren’t stuck with the same songs on loop.

Users can also choose which family members’ listening affects the Family Mix. “Chill” and “upbeat” filters can change up the tempo to suit the family’s mood during listening. Being the designated DJ for a family road trip has never been easier.
However the big bonus is that parents are now able to use an explicit content filter. The controls can be placed on all accounts under a Family Plan or select ones. Older family members can access the music they want to hear while younger kids still have parental controls.
The Family Hub allows billing users to manage their Family’s settings in one place. They can add or remove family members, update account information, and change parental controls on each account.
Spotify’s Family Plan updates will be available for all premium subscribers this fall, costing $15 per month for six individual accounts.
