Another day of being shut in at home, another chance for a TikTok dance challenge to go viral. While the “stair shuffle challenge” has been around for a while on TikTok, it’s now going viral. In it, people dance up and down their stairs to Maggie Lindemann’s “Pretty Girl (Cheat Codes X Cade Remix).” Just like the “flip the switch” and “something new” challenges that have gone viral recently, the challenge takers include bored teens, parents and celebrities.
The challenge was introduced back in 2018 before TikTok had merged with musical.ly to become the TikTok we know today. Now, it’s coming back for reasons not many are sure of. Perhaps it’s because mastering TikTok dances on level ground has become boring, and the added danger and thrill of shuffling up a staircase is just more entertaining.
Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards and soccer player Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain master the challenge:
Pro-dancer Allison Holker Boss recruited a whole ensemble to complete the challenge:

Not all dancers and non-dancers are equipped to master this challenge. It’s not hard to imagine what kind of fails could come out of dancing up and down a staircase freely. In case you are wondering, however, watch the video down below of a fail:
