In the latest update in the search for two-year-old Thaddeus Sran, police in Madera, California have arrested the toddler’s parents. Last week, his body was believed to have been found and police issued an arrest warrant for Briseida, 29, and Sukhjinder Sran, 42. They are both being charged with murder and are in police custody.
Thaddeus was originally reported to have disappeared from his home in the middle of the night on July 14. His parents first told investigators they had last seen him when they put him to bed at 10 PM. When they checked on him early the next morning, he was gone.
Acccording to police, Thaddeus was born prematurely and had “extreme health issues.” At the time of his disappearance, he was nonverbal, using a feeding tube, and crawling to get around. They were also investigating his disappearance as a possible abduction.
Search Ends in a Grisly Discovery

A week into the investigation, things took a turn when authorities announced the parents had stopped cooperating in the search for Thaddeus. “Unfortunately, Thaddeus’ parents stopped cooperating early on in the investigation,” the police statement read. “We believe their assistance in this case would be helpful.”
The family’s attorney, Roger T. Nuttall, also released a statement, saying the family stopped working with police after they felt they were becoming suspects. Nuttall advised the family to stop speaking with authorities without an attorney present.
ABC30 reports that Madera police confirmed the parents had another daughter who died a few years ago, but didn’t provide further comment and didn’t make any connection to the current investigation.
Then, last week, authorities found the burned body of what they assumed is a two- to three-year-old child, just outside of the city. According to ABC30, an autopsy was performed but results were not released to the public.
The local community has banded together to pray for Thaddeus and pay tribute to the little boy. ABC30 reports that community members helped fundraise for two murals to be placed around the city to raise awareness of his case, hoping to bring justice to Thaddeus.
