The internet is in love with an adorable toddler who couldn’t resist joining his meteorologist mom’s weather report. Leslie Lopez of ABC7 News in Los Angeles was giving her predictions when her baby, Nolan, wandered into frame. Now, little Nolan has become an internet sensation as support pours in for Lopez’s handling of the situation.
It all began early Thursday morning, January 28. Lopez, working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, delivered her morning forecast. As she reported on an impending rainstorm, little Nolan could be seen moving along the bottom of the frame before locking onto his mom’s leg in a loving embrace.

“It looks like there’s a baby down below,” Lopez laughed before resuming her report. Bending over to pick Nolan up, she added, “He walks now, guys, so I’ve lost all control.”
Lopez’s ABC7 colleague Brandi Hitt immediately shared the heartwarming moment to Twitter, where little Nolan captured the hearts of countless internet users. Hitt’s tweet has since been shared over 4 thousand times, gaining over 33 thousand likes.

“Stuff like this is the best thing that has happened in the last year,” wrote one Twitter commenter. “Kids and pets showing up in broadcasts and zoom meetings reminds us that we are all human.”
“Real life right there! Class act in how you handled it, love the warmth of a mother and the professionalism of a career meteorologist!” tweeted another.
Lopez even received recognition from broadcasting legend Dan Rather, who praised her handling of the surprise visit.
“Sometimes working from home means unexpected cameos,” Rather tweeted. “A tip of the Stetson to this pro, @abc7leslielopez, and her ‘assistant’ for the heart-warming weather forecast.”
This is a wonderful compliment from from someone who is on the Mt. Rushmore of broadcasting. It means a lot and made my year. It also means a lot to my “babysitting” husband who was on the hot seat until your tweet came through 😂 @DanRather https://t.co/DYY1ZOTEn1

Lopez later took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the overwhelming support from colleagues and fans.
“Nolan and I want to thank everyone who has reached out to say something kind about the moment we shared on air together,” Lopez said. “Working from home has truly been a blessing amidst a difficult year, and I’m heartened to hear other find it relatable.”
The working mom also shared a follow-up clip of little Nolan watching his big on-air moment over breakfast – a face full of delicious yogurt.
