You may think viral challenges on TikTok ended with the Salt Challenge and the Skullbreaker Challenge (aka Tripping Jump), there’s a new one joining the arena: the “Flip the Switch” challenge. And, TikTokers aren’t the only ones taking a jab at it — celebs are, too.
Essentially, creators and TikTokers alike stand in front of a mirror with a significant other or partner — usually a male and female — and dance to Drake’s song “Nonstop,” which features the lyric, “I just flipped the switch” at the start of the song. While the song builds to that lyric, users “flip the switch” on the light and the two people dancing switch clothing, dance moves, and positions.
The challenge began circulating on the TikTok app last week, then became popularized on Instagram and Twitter over the weekend using the hashtag #FlipTheSwitch.
The creator of the challenge was blogger and TikTok user, Bella Lambert. Now, celebrities including Gordon Ramsay, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Emily Ratajkowski, and even Elizabeth Warren have given it a try.

Viral challenges and quarantined celebrities are no stranger to each other. Gordon Ramsay enlisted his 18-year-old daughter, Tilly, to effortlessly pull off the challenge, all while cooking a meal. At the beginning of the clip, Ramsay is wearing a red crewneck and Tilly is wearing a white wrap dress. One switch flip later, they reappear in the other’s clothing.

Elizabeth Warren’s SNL Skit
Saturday Night Live called on former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren to “Flip the Switch” this past weekend. The Massachusetts senator was in for a surprise when she came face-to-face with her SNL twin, Kate McKinnon. McKinnon has played several characters on the show including Justin Bieber, Hilary Clinton, and now, Elizabeth Warren. The dynamic duo made their debut on SNL‘s social media with a backstage video of Warren and McKinnon creating their own version of the”Flip the Switch” challenge. Needless to say, fans raved on about the skit.
Even Drake had something to say about Warren and McKinnon’s rendition of the viral challenge on SNL‘s Instagram.
“Wow I need to come home,” Drake commented.
The 33-year-old rapper was also famously behind the “In My Feelings” challenge that broke the internet in 2018. While Drake hasn’t tried the challenges making his songs go viral, it’s only a matter of time. In the meantime, Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth Warren’s sweet-moves will do.
