Summer’s here and… well… even if you’re not stuck at home you may be hesitant to hit up a local pool or water park. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun and cool off at the same time. Here’s how to make a DIY “Slip and Slide” for very little money, and with supplies you can easily order online.
This isn’t just for kids. This durable is fun times for everyone! (Especially if there are margaritas involved.)
There are a bunch of DIY tutorials online, but the easiest and best-made version we found (that’s also not painfully boring to watch) was from DIY Dad on the BabyLeague YouTube channel. We’ve posted his video and links below.
DIY Slip and Slide
What You Need
- Painter’s Plastic, Minimum 4 MIL Thickness
- Ground Stakes (for a tent or outdoor canopy)
- Water Source
- Soap Solution (mixture of a little tear-free baby wash and water)
EDITOR’S NOTE: Parentology is an Amazon Affiliate and we make a commission if you buy anything from those links above.
In the video, DIY Dad, Eric, says you need a hill. Sure, that makes it a little easier for sliding, but when we were kids we just went running at the store-bought Slip N Slide and dove at it. If you have any kind of floaty to land on, a long flat surface (ideally grassy or sandy) will work just fine.
