The Fast & Furious franchise is revving up with new life, thanks to Netflix. Their new animated series, Fast and Furious Spy Racers, is introducing a brand new set of characters (and cars) to a younger audience. We here at Parentology were able to catch a preview of the racing series — hear what we thought about the heart-racing first season.
What’s It All About?
The animated series follows teenager Tony Toretto, the cousin of none other than Dom Torretto of the original film series. Racing genes and hijinks seem to run in the Toretto family.
Tony and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate SH1FT3R, an elite racing league used as a front for a crime organization. Toretto and his group make up the “spy racers” as they undertake their mission of stopping SH1FT3R from world domination.
The voice talent behind the series is impressive. Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) stars as Tony Toretto and his crew is voiced by Luke Youngblood (Harry Potter), Charlet Chung (Overwatch) and Jorge Diaz (Jane the Virgin). Manish Dayal (The Resident) and Camille Ramsey (American Vandal) voice the questionable villains of SH1FT3R, Shashi Dhar and Layla Gray, respectively. Vin Diesel’s daughter, Similce Diesel, will lend her voice, as well.

The biggest surprise of all? A special cameo from Vin Diesel, who serves as one of the series’ producers. Diesel’s guest role is just one of many tie-ins to the much-loved, live-action franchise.
Something to Add to Your Watch List
Parent fans of the live-action Fast & Furious may not have shared the franchise with their kids yet as the films aren’t particularly “family-friendly.” Fast and Furious Spy Racers remedies this issue, providing a family viewing, bonding experience.
The thrill of the racing is front and center as the show’s heroes follow in the original Fast and Furious crew’s footsteps. High-tech cars on varied landscapes and tracks on every episode make for a fast-paced plot that keeps the viewers on their toes. Missions include plenty of derring-do, everything from scaling skyscrapers to top-secret races.

The show is more than just fast cars – it’s about the Spy Racers’ journey to come into their own as racers and a family. They learn to thrive as a team, reaching their goals together. As Dom Torretto famously said, “I don’t have friends, I got family.”
