Parents, rejoice! Now you can dress up like Jason Voorhees, scare the bejesus out of your kids, and protect yourself from coronavirus all at the same time!
You don’t have to be a horror fan to know Jason is probably the most infamous figure of the horror world. The machete-wielding serial killer continues to slice and dice his way through countless teenagers in the bloody Friday the 13th movies. Well, now you have the chance to wear Jason’s signature goalie mask and be COVID-19 safe while you’re doing it.
Back in May during the height of the coronavirus pandemic — when everyone was looking for toilet paper, hand santizer, and face masks — legendary makeup artist Tom Savini (pictured above) got an idea. He worked on both the original Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and started making protective masks inspired by Jason’s favorite accoutrement. Savini created these masks in partnership with effects artist Jason Baker, who has done a lot of work for WWE and knows his way around a mask.

How much will a Jason mask cost you? They’re going for $60 a pop, unless you want one with Tom Savini’s signature on it. Then it’ll run you a cool $100. For horror fans, getting Savini’s autograph is easily worth the extra $40. Savini is an icon of horror films. He not only worked on the Friday the 13th series, he did makeup for Stephen King’s Creepshow, Day of the Dead, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Because of COVID-19, there is currently a delay in shipping. Jason Baker tweeted that he and Savini are “running a skeleton crew for obvious health reasons and taking extra precautions.” Baker went on to say they’re “sending out shipments everyday (sic) and trying to fill orders as quickly as possible.”
