You may have heard the word in the cooking-world, but have you heard “salty” used to describe a person? If you have, it’s probably not in a flattering way. And, if you haven’t, you may ask yourself “what does salty mean?”
Salty isn’t exactly the word you want someone to use to describe you. It’s often used to characterize a person who’s bitter towards someone or something. Or, in some cases when a person gets upset or embarrassed over something.
The word has been used many times in memes and music. And, in music, rappers use the word to describe girls who are bitter about their break-up and their quick rise to fame or to describe those who didn’t believe in their dreams and goals.
Some popular artists like Lil Skies, 21 Savage, Logic, and Rich the Kid, have all used the word in their lyrics.
The word has even met the gaming-world with communities such as Marvel vs Capcom, League of Legends, Call of Duty, Tekken, and Street Fighter using the term. And, the social media world sports the hashtag #Salty on Twitter and Instagram.
When Can You Be Salty?
All the time. Any place. Anywhere.
For example, someone could be salty if they miss out on an outing with friends, or if their favorite teacher gives them a bad grade on a test.
