Disney announced quarterly earnings and teased some exciting new projects on the near horizon.
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger said. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”
That’s almost an understatement.
Combined, these three franchises have produced 7 theatrical films that has grossed about $7 billion in total. The latest film installments of all three franchises (Zootopia, Frozen 2, Toy Story 4) all topped $1 billion at the box office. Disney is also expanding these universes with Disney+ streaming shows, theme park attractions, toy lines and more.

Disney is all-in on these mega-properties and this trio of new films are sure to be huge hits. Which is good for Disney, because the company’s earnings weren’t the greatest. In fact, Iger also announced the company was making 7,000 job cuts as part of a effort to find $5.5 billion in savings across the company.
Which of these promised sequels do you think will most excite your little ones? (My guy is an absolute Frozen addict!)
