Ali Wong Talks About Balancing Comedy with Motherhood

Comedian Ali Wong

Ali Wong is a hilarious American stand-up comedian, actress, and writer. Her Netflix comedy specials, “Baby Cobra” (2016) and “Hard Knock Wife” (2018), are what powered her rise to fame.

Wong’s comedy style is known for its raw and unapologetic nature, tackling topics such as motherhood, gender roles, and race with a unique and humorous perspective. She has also appeared in various films, and television shows, including Always Be My Maybe and Birds of Prey.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wong discussed the challenges of being a divorced mom with a busy schedule. She has two kids who are 5 and 7 years old.

Since they’re still young and need a lot of attention, the superstar comedian had to develop a good work-life balance: “Every single morning, I make my kids lunch. I pick them up every day after school. And I go out every night and do a set.”

That’s a lot of work!

Wong also takes her kids on tour with her, because she loves touring and says that it’s her favorite thing in the world.

When it comes to traveling with her kids: “Taking kids on the road is so beautiful. It’s the opposite of film and television, where I’m just gone all day. It’s a really fun family adventure because basically, at night, I’m performing, and then during the day, we go on adventures to the children’s museum or the gardens, or we see family friends. It’s really cool that they’ve seen so much of America.”

Taking her kids on tour is a great experience for her kids. It will help them become more confident and adventurous adults. They will also grow up feeling more included in their mother’s life.

Many busy parents will leave their kids at home with the nanny, thinking that’s best for them, but depending on the job and practical situation, taking your kids to work with you can be a good bonding experience.

Wong is a true trailblazer in the world of comedy and entertainment. She has shown that it’s possible to have a successful career and be a devoted parent at the same time.

Her message to other working moms is to find a schedule that works for you and your family and not be afraid to say no when needed. With hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
